Hello. This is John Rhodes Open Mic Poetry
Podcast/TV Show. Today we are going to have on a
well-known poet of Virginia named Robert Arthur. Robert
P. Arthur is the author of twenty books as well as
numerous poem/plays, including the award-winning Hymn
to the Chesapeake, which was produced in New York and
St. Petersburg, Russia. Robert was a finalist as Poet
Laureate of Virginia in 2008 and his new book of poetry,
Vija's War, is nominated for the Library of Virginia
Award. He has won top honors in Virginia both for poetry
and fiction for the last two years. Thought to be the finest
poet of the Chesapeake Bay and the Eastern Shore of
Virginia, he has been awarded fourteen grants in the last
two years. He is currently a writer-in-residence at Wilkes
University in Pa. and the owner of San Francisco Bay Press
and the literary journal Lady Jane Miscellany, as well as
the Spoken Word Theatre at 40th Street Stage in Norfolk,
Virginia.
